Good record

I refer to J. S. K. Lee's letter headlined, 'Catch up with other countries' (South China Morning Post, April 17).

Although many people, including Mr Lee, have criticised CMB for having old buses, just because they are old does not mean they are not safe.

According to government statistics, last year, the accident and breakdown rate for CMB was the lowest among the three major bus companies.

In addition to quality of maintenance, there are other factors contributing to bus safety, such as bus captains' driving attitude. It is unfair to view this issue from a narrow perspective.
