Royals roll up

Queen Beatrix celebrated her 60th birthday by throwing a royal ball for Europe's monarchs.

King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium, Queen Margrethe and Prince Hendrik of Denmark, Norway's King Harald V and Queen Sonja, Sweden's King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia as well as Britain's Prince Charles were invited.

Celebrations started when Queen Beatrix escorted her guests to Amsterdam's Stedeljik Museum of Modern Art, followed by a ballet at the Muziektheater.

Royals danced the following evening in the palace on Dam Square.
