More than 1,500 proposals have been submitted to a newly established fund to promote quality education.

The Education Commission recommended the establishment of the fund and Tung Chee-hwa allocated $5 billion in his Policy Address last year.

All schools and educational bodies can apply if they are non-profit making and their projects will help raise teaching and learning standards. They will have two chances a year to lodge their requests - March to April and September to October.
