Flags up for dress rehearsal

Two Hong Kong football ambassadors selected to attend the World Cup in France this summer through a Coca-Cola youth programme had a chance to familiarise themselves with their roles.

Miu Tsz-yeung and Cheng Sai-kit, both 17, made their debuts when they marched on to the field at the start of the Hong Kong FA Cup final between Instant-Dict and South China, which Instant-Dict won 3-1 at Hong Kong Stadium.

A crowd of 7,200 spectators watched the pair lead the teams out while clutching the FIFA 'Fair Play Please' flag, displayed before important matches worldwide.

The pair acted as 'flag bearer' and 'ball boy' and the match gave them ideal practice for their mission in next month's world premier soccer tournament.

'I was a bit nervous parading the FIFA flag together with my colleague Sai-kit, but everything went smoothly.

'It was an honour to lead out the teams in front of so many spectators. It's going to be so much bigger in France. I'm sure the stadium will be full and that up to 60,000 spectators will see us when we do it again in France,' Tsz-yeung said.
