Many retailers and traders are having to operate under the burden of unrealistically high rents.

This has forced some entrepreneurs to cheat and be rude to customers.

Others have simply had to close down in frustration, leaving many people unemployed.

Given that the volume of business has fallen by about 70 per cent, it is high time landlords cut rents by half.

This would enable businesses to stay open and keep people in Hong Kong in steady employment as well as helping the tourist industry.

Let me make it clear, I am talking about occupied premises, not vacant property.
