Mainland copper futures prices have fallen to their lowest levels since the copper contract was launched five years ago, in line with falls on the London Metal Exchange, while inventories rise. The June 1998 contract fell to 16,340 yuan (about HK$15,200) per tonne on Tuesday while three-month metal was 16,830 yuan. A Shanghai Metal Exchange official said prices compared with highs of 19,100 yuan last month.
