Dissident activities destructive

I saw Wei Jingsheng on Swedish television when he visited the country and I read about him in Swedish newspapers.

I am sorry he was imprisoned for so many years and I understand that he endured great hardship.

However, I think the things he said while in Sweden were very damaging to China and Chinese people everywhere.

He may feel angry, but how can that justify him trying to damage the good relationship Sweden has with China? The two countries trade with each other, there is technical co-operation and there are cultural exchanges.

Clearly, Mr Wei hates the Communist Party. But has he ever looked at its achievements and what it is still doing for China? Which of the dynasties that preceded the Communist Party achieved as much as the communists under Mao Zedong? He fought for the independence of the country and reunited the whole people, including the more than 50 national minorities. The PRC also won the right to be one of the permanent members of the United Nations.

I would advise Mr Wei to cease his arrogant activities, which bring no good to anybody.
