FCB clinches credit card account

FCB has won the media planning activities for Standard Chartered's credit card products, an account worth $50 million in billings annually.

The agency beat DMB&B, Carat and incumbent Leo Burnett to win the media buying and planning activities for the bank's Visa, Mastercard and Options credit card lines. Creative work for the account stayed with Leo Burnett.

FCB Hong Kong managing director Carol Cheung said the agency was selected for the account in February, but was not assigned to represent the credit cards immediately.

The bank wanted the agency to prove it could deliver what it had promised, and gave it two trial advertising campaigns, valued at $7.5 million, before the deal was concluded.
