TOP local jockey Stanley K. M. Chin scored one of his most important victories yesterday when taking the second Asia Jockeys' race at the Chukyo racecourse in Japan.

Chin rode a faultless race on Lettre d'Amour to win the 1,800-metre turf event and was given a rousing reception by the fans.

In the first Asia Jockeys' race he finished fourth on Applause Hero over 1,200 metres on the turf and is now ideally placed in the annual competition, which goes into its second day today.

Chin had an outside ride for a local trainer but finished unplaced on Nice Paris in the fifth event on the card.

Chin has ridden with success in Japan and England previously and is also due to take part in a special Hong Kong Day at Woodbine in Canada in July.
