Your report on the health of the police (Sunday Post, May 31) contains some factual errors in relation to alcohol consumption by officers.
You state that '45 per cent of all officers had a binge-drinking session in a month'. What the survey found was that only 55 per cent use any alcohol at all; of these 45 per cent (25 per cent of all officers) declared that in the previous month they had consumed more than five drinks on one or more occasions.
The proportion of all officers in the force who did so more than once was only 13 per cent.
