AFTER watching some great rugby at last weekend's Rugby Sevens, at the Hongkong Stadium, we decided to go home by taxi.

As anyone who attended the tournament will recall, there was a large crowd of rugby fans and there were cars and taxis everywhere; yet surprisingly, there was little chaos or confusion, thanks to the efficiency of the Hongkong Police Department.

Although the police have been the object of much criticism in the past couple of months, during the Rugby Sevens weekend, there was no doubt they were doing their job well. Temporary taxi stands were set up while officers directed traffic.

The taxi queues moved swiftly and cars had a lane of their own, to minimise congestion.

We did not have long to wait before we got a taxi and the police are to be commended for the efficient way in which they organised everything.
