End of the runway for agency

The agency which oversaw the $155.3 billion airport core programme will be dissolved in September, its head said yesterday.

Director of the New Airport Projects Co-ordinating Office (NAPCO) Kwok Ka-keung said 140 people would be affected by the disbandment - one-third from consultancy firms whose contracts terminate this month.

'For government staff, engineers will return to works-related departments while other general staff members will return to the various government departments. As for myself, I haven't made up my mind about where to go yet,' said Mr Kwok, the former deputy secretary for works.
