Smiling faces no eyesore
I refer to S. Yang's letter, 'Congestion eyesore for tourists' (South China Morning Post, June 26), and would like to point out that few Filipinas gather in Causeway Bay on Sundays.
The majority of the ladies who congregate there are Indonesian.
But, be that as it may, I am not sure tourists would find crowds of cheerful chattering people particularly distressing, whatever their race. In fact in Hong Kong such scenes of joy could be considered rather a novelty.
After 15 years in this city I still enjoy seeing the crowds in Statue Square and Causeway Bay on Sundays, I enjoy seeing the happiness and hearing the laughter of people who do not have very much but are grateful for the little they do have.
I have the rest of the week to look at glum faces.
