Just a military show tradition

I refer to the letter from R. J. Mills-Owens headlined, 'Concerned' (South China Morning Post, July 6), regarding the PLA parading with fixed bayonets.

The British Guards regiments parade with fixed bayonets during the Trooping of the Colour on the Queen's Official Birthday.

Does this mean they can be suspected of evil thoughts towards the assembled monarchy, officials, tourists etc? No, of course not.

The PLA are following a military show tradition.

Perhaps 'Paranoid' would have been a more appropriate headline than 'Concerned'.
