With a smile and a wave, the Duchess of Gloucester ends her visit to the Jessie and Thomas Tam Centre for bereavement counselling in Shamshuipo yesterday.

The duchess, who is on a four-day visit with the Duke of Gloucester - the first by British royals since the handover - met staff of the centre and terminally ill patients and their relatives. The facility at the Lai Kok Estate is run by the Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care.

The duke and the duchess dined at Government House with Tung Chee-hwa last night.
