On the evening of July 13, I saw my younger brother off on a Virgin Atlantic flight to London at the new airport.

 I was impressed with the facilities and the terminal building.

 It is a welcome improvement on Kai Tak and takes Hong Kong into a new era.

 I think that having an airport at Chek Lap Kok is a more efficient use of space in a crowded place like Hong Kong.

 I was also impressed by the efficient and friendly check-in staff at Virgin Atlantic.
