Will clean up mouldy volumes

I refer to the letter from Oliver Wong headlined, 'Mould on library music scores' (South China Morning Post, July 18).

The Provisional Urban Council's City Hall Public Library has in its stock a valuable collection of music scores. These music scores, unlike general books, have to be specially bound. While these bindings have proved to be very sturdy, the binding materials used, however, tend to induce mould easily. To address this problem, arrangements have been made to clean up those affected volumes on a regular basis.

We would like to thank Mr Wong for his concern regarding our library service, and to take this opportunity to point out that readers should feel free to contact the assistant librarian on duty for immediate assistance should they encounter any problems or have any questions about our service.
