Winning Partners needs luck of draw

IT was an unusually informative morning's work at Sha Tin yesterday given that there are eight barrier trials scheduled for the grass today. Neville Begg deserves a useful horse - given the bad luck he has had with such a promising type as Active Market - and he looks to have got one in Winning Partners. The lightly-raced four-year-old was one of the biggest certainties beaten of recent seasons when dreadfully unlucky last time out in the race won by Colourful World at Sha Tin. It is unbelievable how many of Begg's fancied horses draw out in the wilds and that is where the problems all started for Winning Partners. He drew barrier 13 of the 13 runners and was parked wide for the whole journey. There was then scrimmaging on the turn into the straight as Racing Ace stumbled. This sent Tim's Joy out into Winning Partners who in turn came out on to the Nigel Tiley-ridden Fighting Strike. Tiley, a most competitive race rider, was having none of it and d
