Time to halt sex discrimination

Are men and women equal in the world? The answer is no. They are treated differently in many respects.

Let's suppose a man and a woman with similar skills are vying for a promotion.

Who do you think will get it? The man's chances of landing the plum position are always greater. So why are women discriminated against? It is because of the traditional belief that men are superior to women. Men regard themselves as leaders of society. Women have to stay at home to do the housework.

Hence, men make a much larger contribution to the economy and as a result the social status of women declines further.

Nevertheless, should we agree to these points of view expressed by male chauvinists? There are many examples to prove that women can do as good a job as their male counterparts. In some cases, they may fare better than men. For instance, policewomen, who were not allowed to carry guns in the past, are now permitted to do so.

It shows that women are not inferior to men physically. On the other hand, women have gradually penetrated the upper classes of society. Their contribution to the community can no longer be ignored.

Thus, should we still discriminate against women? Let's forget the traditional thinking, and consider the actual circumstances.

In my opinion, we should be open-minded and accept men and women are equal so as to survive in the new era.
