Cargo 2000, which has 36 members including new participants BALtrans (Hong Kong) and BAX Global, has approved a range of electronic data interchange (EDI) and bar-code labelling criteria for implementation in 1999 to 2000.

The measures include electronic booking of cargo with member airlines, agreement that airlines will register for the US Customers automated manifest system and agreement that airlines and forwarders implement IATA, a resolution related to bar-code labelling and scanning.
