Writ filed against Sea Ranch residents

Residents of the controversy-racked Sea Ranch retreat are facing legal action to oust them as directors of the exclusive enclave's holding company.

A High Court writ has been filed by six people seeking to declare invalid an extraordinary general meeting of Holiday Resorts Holdings allegedly held on July 25.

The company runs the Lantau retreat that has become a battleground between owners and management over the use of management fees and who can stay at the Sea Ranch.

The six litigants - Andrew Kam Yee-wai, Nelson Lam-chu, Terence Chu Sai-cheong, Chu Siu-wah, Mona Ip Mo-yin and Yip Hin-yan - are also seeking to have motions passed at the alleged meeting deemed invalid. They are also seeking a declaration that seven people are no longer directors of the holding company, namely Sea Ranch residents Alice Lu Ho-bin, Reidar Jenssen, Dustan Tong and Kwok Tai-ming, and non-residents Chong Lap-fu, Freeman To Siu-hung and James Wong Kin-chung.

An injunction is being sought to stop the seven from acting as directors. The six litigants are also seeking costs.
