Air pilots strike

Northwest Airlines and Air Canada said yesterday that both have tentative agreements to end strikes which have affected thousands of Hong Kong passengers.

A spokesman for Northwest said their 6,200 pilots would remain on strike until at least tomorrow (Hong Kong time) when the union's master executive council would meet to consider details of the pact.

The spokesman said 5,220 local passengers had been affected.

A spokesman for Air Canada said their 2,100 pilots would remain on strike until at least Monday when the union meets to consider the tentative agreement.
