16 beaches rated good for swimming

Sixteen beaches have been rated good for swimming this weekend and only one rated poor according to readings of the amount of E. coli bacteria in the water.

Good: Shek O, Pui O, St Stephen's, Tong Fuk, South Bay, Tung Wan on Cheung Chau, Middle Bay, Kwun Yam Wan, Repulse Bay, Hung Shing Yeh, Deep Water Bay, Lo So Shing, Cheung Sha Upper and Lower, Hap Mun Bay, Kiu Tsui.

Fair: Big Wave Bay, Hoi Mei Wan, Turtle Cove, Gemini, Hairpin, Lido, Stanley Main, Casam, Chung Hom Kok, Tung Wan, Ma Wan, Discovery Bay, Golden Beach, Silverstrand, New and Old Cafeteria, Clear Water Bay 1st and 2nd, Kadoorie, Trio (Hebe Haven), Butterfly Bay.

Poor: Silvermine Bay.

Five gazetted beaches remain closed to swimmers because of poor water quality and lack of facilities: Anglers', Approach, Ting Kau, Castle Peak and Rocky Bay.
