Yiu's Yangtze River coming into full flow

The gulf between Class Four and Five is a wide one, as Yangtze River (99-1) showed in emphatic fashion with his first forward showing in last night's second event over the Valley mile won by favourite Super Conqueror.

Trainer Ricky Yiu is enjoying a solid start to the campaign and the voluntary demotion to Class Five seems to be just what his four-year-old son of Taufan has been seeking.

He was slowly into his stride for Vickie Choi before settling on the fence just a little worse than midfield.

He was blocked for a run early in the straight before being switched to the rails and although racing greenly to the line he did stick to his guns under top weight to snatch fourth money - something he had failed to do in his previous four outings last term.

On the line he was just over four lengths off the winner and Yangtze River could spring a surprise at healthy odds in this class when he returns to the roomier Sha Tin.
