Cathay Pacific has launched a Fly to Win promotion offering 3,500 air tickets to passengers landing in Hong Kong with the airline. It is giving away one economy return class ticket on every flight landing here, apart from those from Vietnam and United Arab Emirates. The promotion will run until November 30. Winners will be chosen randomly, using seat numbers.

Guizhou first Guizhou province in southwestern China has opened its first international hotel, the Holiday Inn Guiyang. The hotel, which is near the entertainment district, has 230 rooms and suites. Asia's largest waterfall, the Huang Guo Shu, is near Guiyang.

Virgin deal Virgin Atlantic and Eurostar have a special promotion to Paris for $6,500, valid until October 31, offering a return ticket from Hong Kong to London and a return rail ticket to Paris. A stopover in London is allowed on the return journey only, and the ticket is valid for 30 days. Also, Virgin has a buy one, get one free deal on its Premium Economy class on return tickets to London. The fare is normally $16,520, but Virgin is offering two seats for this price until December 31. Tickets must be bought before October 15. There are certain restrictions on the days flights can be taken.

Theatre time Sadler's Wells Theatre in London will reopen on October 12 with computerised stage machinery and state-of-the-art lighting. The theatre has been closed for two years for the US$82 million (HK$635 million) project.

Sun ride The first sunrise of the new millennium will be in Gisborne, New Zealand, and an 11-stage bicycle ride is being planned, taking in almost 1,000 kilometres of the North Island, arriving at the town in time to witness it.
