Capital returns

SINGAPORE (October 14): THE flight of capital from the Netherlands Indies manipulated by Hongkong speculators in the past three years has been checked and the process is gradually being reversed, Dutch economic officials here indicated.

Between 1945 and 1947 the flight of capital to Hongkong from the Indies has been alarming, with millions of guilders converted into foreign currencies. In addition, gold bullion and precious stones also were smuggled out of the country.
