SAR surveillance tapes may be presented as evidence
Video surveillance footage may be used during the trial, a police source says.
It is understood several tapes exist, including one allegedly linking Cheung to an 800kg explosives haul.
One of the Hong Kong police tapes is thought to show Cheung 'very close' to one of the tycoons widely believed to have been the target of a kidnapping.
The source said: 'My understanding is that there is a very good tape of him at the house where the explosives were found in Sheung Shui and very close to one of the two kidnap victims.' At least two overseas law enforcement agencies are also thought to have carried out surveillance of Cheung, but it is highly unlikely their footage would be used as evidence.
A police spokesman refused to say whether Hong Kong detectives would attend the trial, but another source said: 'The Chinese normally just take depositions, so it's unlikely any officers from here would be called. There may well be people there in an observer capacity though.'
