Man held after pistol find

A jobless man, 54, was arrested after the seizure of a home-made pistol, metal pellets and explosives in a hut in Tan Kwai Tsuen, Yuen Long.

The pistol was made of two water pipes about 20cm long and 2cm wide.

'One of the water pipes is used as a barrel and the other one is equipped with a firing pin. It could discharge a metal pellet when one end is connected to the other end,' a source said.

'Sulphur and gunpowder collected from matches were stuck around the metal pellets.
