Moscow: Russian sixth seed Anna Kournikova suffered a second crushing defeat in a week, crashing out of the Kremlin Cup tennis tournament at the first hurdle to Italy's Silvia Farina, who advanced 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-1.

The defeat completed a miserable few days for the teenage star, who lost in the first round in the Zurich tournament last week to Belgium's Dominique van Roost after serving 17 double faults.
