DHL Worldwide Express has opened a 50,000 square feet express logistics centre (ELC) at Miami International Airport in Florida to link the company's worldwide air express network.

'DHL ELC offers expedited transportation and distribution solutions to businesses seeking to launch new products in different countries, explore new international markets and outsource repair and return services via DHL's extensive global network,' said Douglas Lewis, DHL's commercial development director for the Asia-Pacific/Middle East.

He said the centre offered customers a low-risk and low-capital-investment way to drive down inventory costs, streamline business process, improve cash flow, increase control and improve customer response times.

The centre, which can be expanded to 90,000 square feet, provides on-site repair and return, temperature-controlled storage and bonded warehousing services.

DHL service centres in the Asia Pacific, are located in key centres including Hong Kong, Singapore and Brisbane.

The Miami cenyre operates 24 hours, every day, with in-house customs clearance, licensed customs brokers and modern inventory management systems.
