Beczak listings chief

Shangri-La Asia deputy chairman Thaddeus Beczak yesterday was re-elected as convenor of the stock exchange listing committee.

Mr Beczak, who is also an executive director of Kerry Holdings, is an independent council member.

The listing committee is responsible for approving new listings and handling affairs related to listed firms.

At their first meeting yesterday, the 31 members of the exchange's newly elected ruling council elected convenors and members of its 20 committees.

The council appointed independent member Moses Cheng Mo-chi, senior partner of PC Woo & Co, as convenor of the ad hoc committee to study the Independent Commission Against Corruption's proposal to turn the exchange into a public body.

Wardley Financial Services chief executive John Seto Gin-chung is convenor of the ad hoc committee on short selling and securities borrowing and lending.

Frederick Ma Si-hang, of Chase Manhattan Private Bank, heads the compliance committee. Henry Chan was re-elected trading and settlement committee convenor.
