JUNIOR triathletes Brian Bozarth, Don Bozarth Junior, Cheung Man-ho and Bobo Lee Wing-yee are among a lucky few who will benefit individually from a new $2 million sponsorship deal for their sport by an international sportswear company.

Triathlon, a fast-growing sport which requires competitors to swim, cycle and run over varying distances, is seen by Puma as complementing its image perfectly.

Puma will sponsor the Hongkong triathlon up to $2 million over the next three years, with the money being used to develop the sport at international and grassroots levels.

The Hongkong Triathlon Association has an active junior programme and the backing of Puma and an increased block grant from the Sports Development Board, the Government's sports funding body, will ensure this continues to expand.

The association plans to use some of the sponsorship money to organise eight introductory courts throughout Hongkong, Kowloon and the New Territories.

Puma will also be the title sponsor for next month's Hongkong International Olympic Triathlon and also for the Hongkong International Sprint Triathlon in September.
