Retailers rise to the challenge

The Service and Courtesy Awards, organised by the Hong Kong Retail Management Association, are in their 13th year and I congratulate all the participating companies on their efforts to maintain supreme service standards in Hong Kong's retail business and to outperform their previous achievements.

Retailers now face even greater challenges as we strive to stay competitive under the current difficult economic environment.

'Quality service' is no longer a luxury but a necessity that allows businesses a competitive edge to succeed and is a very important component of every retail business.

It also poses a continual challenge to retail ers as customers' expectations increase and retailers make efforts to meet and exceed such expectations.

This year's participants have again demonstrated outstanding performance and I congratulate all the winners and their companies on their hard work and dedication.

May we all work together in fulfilling our slogan for the award: 'Sustaining market competitivenessthrough service excel- lence'.
