Officials from Walt Disney visited a local university to select students to work at Disney World in the United States.

About 10 students from the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management of Hong Kong Polytechnic University will gain valuable experience working for the American company in different fields such as entertainment, food and beverage, and merchandise.

This year, more than 70 undergraduates applied to join the one-year student ambassador programme. For more than 10 years, the Walt Disney company has recruited students from the department for its cultural exchange programme.

Dr Ray Pine, head of the department, said the presence of Disney-experienced graduates would give Hong Kong an advantage in attracting foreign companies to develop entertainment facilities here.

During their stay at Disney World, the students will gain working experience in various operational positions, attend weekly seminars and meet students from around the world.
