Guides' stirring effort

Girl Guides used tins to build a giant three-dimensional picture featuring the 'Hong Kong - Our Home' logo at Kowloon Park in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The logo, measuring just over 6 x 6 metres, was set up in the park's Piazza at a Creativity Carnival organised by the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association, Campbell's Soup Asia and supported by Yau Tsim Mong District Office.

It took 100 guides less than 30 minutes to make the massive logo using 3,000 Campbell's Soup tins.

The girls hope their efforts would promote the message that people should keep Hong Kong clean.

The fun-filled carnival also aimed to encourage creative thinking among children and to promote the importance of creativity for success in life.

An illustrated introduction to the 'Hong Kong - Our Home' campaign was displayed so people would have a better understanding of the need to participate in community service programmes and show that they cared about the local environment. Twenty game stalls were set up at the carnival to encourage creativity.

Performances that included Japanese folk songs and Thai traditional dances were staged by local Girl Guides who had been abroad for cultural exchange programmes during the summer.
