Robbers raid cargo vessels

GOODS worth more than $500,000 were stolen from two cargo vessels in the harbour yesterday. The crew of the Panamanian-registered Tricolour Song, anchored off Western Quarantine Anchorage, alerted police just after 2 am that 15 men had been seen fleeing intwo sampans. A quantity of cotton and Chinese herb medicine had disappeared.

In the second case, the crew of the container ship, Chung Kwong, moored near Tang Lung Chau, south of Ma Wan, reported to police at about 7 am that 50 air-conditioners each worth $10,000 and a quantity of vehicle tyres had been stolen.
