Event helps foster relations between firms and staff
RONALD LEUNG DING-BONG, Chairman, Provisional Urban Council
The Corporate Games, jointly organised by the Provisional Urban Council and Provisional Regional Council, have entered their ninth year.
I believe the games have fostered friendship between the councils and the participating organisations and their staff.
Participation in the games has been most encouraging indeed. Staff from various organisations have been well focused and have strived for the best results in all competitions.
Apart from strengthening communication and co- operation between corporations and their employees, the games enhance the sense of belonging to one's organisation.
Employees can also take this opportunity to rekindle their interest in sport and exercise their physique through sports activities, this being the aim for the two councils to continue the Corporate Games.
The two councils have continued to improve the format and contents of events to keep up with changes.
The lawn bowls tournament first held this year is an example, giving an excellent opportunity for corporation staff to show their skills. Perhaps for this reason the Corporate Games is well-received.
The Corporate Games have been successfully held this year. There were 254 corporations with about 10,000 participants involved.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all participating corporations and their staff for their support over the years.
I hope corporations that have not yet taken part will join in next year and let their staff enjoy this meaningful event.
