Trivia buffs pit wits at 'no free lunch' charity quiz

Brains were teased but there were plenty of laughs at the Operation Santa Claus There's No Such Thing As A Free Lunch quiz.

Six competitors pitted their wits against each other and faced some tricky questions at the event organised by RTHK at the Ritz-Carlton.

Previous winner John Snelgrove from National Mutual was defeated by Jill Kluge from the Mandarin Oriental Group and Nick Hunsworth of Johnson, Stokes & Masters. Other entrants were Jardine Matheson's Jill Dodwell-Groves, Adrian Faure of Merrill Lynch and Chris Roberts, who stood in for Tim Lambert, the organiser of the Operation Santa Claus five-a-side soccer tournament. A lively crowd turned up to inspire, applaud and heckle the contestants while quiz-master Natalie Haughton fired questions.

More than $100,000 was raised for the Ing Mei Orphanage Fund.

Thanks to the Ritz-Carlton for use of the Chater Room and for refreshments, and also to Remy for the wine.
