Yuen Long bus services are comprehensive

I refer to Philip Li Chun Yu's letter 'Residents sick of long trek' (South China Morning Post, November 30) expressing concern about the provision of bus services for residents of Palm Springs, Royal Palms and Fairview Park in Yuen Long.

At present there are 10 resident services taking passengers from the above residential developments to various destinations, including a route 92R which provides bus services between Fairview Park and Tsuen Wan during peak hours. The public may also take KMB route 76K to Yuen Long and interchange with route 68M for Tsuen Wan.

In view of the relatively comprehensive resident service network, we have no plan to introduce new franchised bus routes. However, we will closely monitor the passenger demand in the area and appropriate measures will be taken when the situation warrants.

LAI SING-CHEUN for Commissioner for Transport When will I be able to use my Octopus card on KMB's buses? I live in the New Territories and frequently catch buses within that region and often to Kowloon.

Most of its buses have the Octopus paraphernalia installed, but this is always emblazoned with a 'not in use' notice.

Can the bus company please tell me when I will be able to use my card? JENNIFER EAGLETON Tai Po
