THE Government will carry out a trial scheme to test the feasibility of electric vehicles in a long-term effort to combat air pollution. One or two of its diesel-driven vehicles will be replaced by zero-emission power-driven vehicles and their performancemonitored.

The new vehicles have been identified as part of the solution to the air pollution problem but more trials are needed, says the Government, before the scheme is promoted to drivers.
