A new goal for 'keeper

If not for a car crash when he was 19, Julio Iglesias might have made his name in football, not music.

At the time of the crash the Spanish singer, performing at the Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, January 23, was a goalkeeper on Real Madrid's books.

It was the gift of a guitar during his convalescence which spurred Julio to write songs and go on stage.

Few people realise Julio actually lived in Hong Kong in the early 1980s. His first wife, Isabel Preysler, was a Filipino he met while she was studying in Madrid and the couple used to commute between Manila and Hong Kong.

Julio is now married to Miranda Rijnsburger. They have a child, with another on the way.
