Five Stars sets Shining example for TT players
Few Triple Trio bankers burn as brightly as Five Stars Shining in the third event at Sha Tin tomorrow night.
It surely can't be a coincidence that the Wylie Wong-trained galloper has top South African jockey Felix Coetzee replacing hapless claimer Carol Yu at a time when he makes his Class Five debut and is up to a more suitable 1,800 metres.
Last time he ran over a mile on the dirt and Yu was patently unable to get to the bottom of him, especially in the last 200 metres.
Five Stars Shining is likely to get back and it is possible he's not much good. But the way he hits the line, the move up in distance and the booking of Coetzee who is both in form and very strong, could well mean that for TT punters, Five Stars Shining is heaven sent.
Ascot Hero is another who has been noted staying on well over inadequate trips on each of his past two outings. He merits TT respect as does Good Putt who goes well at Sha Tin.
Kintanto was unsuited by the mile last time, and the tempo, but should run a much better race at Sha Tin's 1,800 metres.
Ultra Tension, Never Say No and Broadway Hit may be best of the others.
The fourth event, the TT's middle pin, is just about the most competitive dirt race there's ever been.
Topweight Winning Glory is on the way back to form and should run well. Deuce Of Hearts has been working well and merits respect as does his stablemate Lion's Share.
Projectvision is a dirt specialist who has never raced better. He should go well and is a potential banker.
Then there's the front-running duo of Craig's Pride and Honey Wind with Kieren Fallon riding the latter.
Fruitful Trip is not out of it either. Topweights Genius, Score and Medic Pearl could be the three to take against the field in the sixth which closes the TT.
Cottage View might have placed at the Valley last week but for being badly hampered. Sir Galway and Citadel can't be ruled out. Sir Galway and his stable in form and Citadel's claimer Roger Yu is worth his seven-pound allowance in gold.
