Villa Esplanada third phase gets go-ahead

China Resources Enterprise, Sun Hung Kai Properties and Cheung Kong (Holdings) have obtained approval from the Buildings Department to construct the third phase of their jointly owned Villa Esplanada residential development in Tsing Yi.

Through jointly owned Harvest Fair Investment, the developers will build four 35-storey residential towers on top of five podium levels on the site.

Floor area in the four towers amounts to 861,718 square feet.

Villa Esplanada has 10 towers being developed in three phases. Flats in the first two development phases were launched for sale in 1997 and last month.

The project was among 23 building plans approved by the Buildings Department in December. They included 11 residential-related projects, three commercial developments and four industrial developments.

Wheelock Properties received consent to build a 27-storey residential building in Rose Street, Yau Yat Chuen. The overall floor area of that development amounts to 42,366 sq ft.

Other projects approved by the Buildings Department include On Brilliant Development's 31-storey residential-commercial tower in Java Road and Team Base Development's 24-floor apartment building in 117 Repulse Bay Road.

Tak Shing Investment, jointly with Stopton Enterprises and Top Pinnacle, received approval to build one commercial block in Thomson Road. The 26-storey tower on top of one basement floor comprises a floor area of 72,301 sq ft.

Wobble was given the go-ahead to build a 35-storey residential-commercial tower in Waterloo Road with a floor area of 79,190 sq ft.

Consent was given in December for works to start on 36 building projects, involving 3.16 million sq ft of usable domestic space and 812,068 sq ft of non-domestic space.

The department issued 39 occupation permits involving 3.88 million sq ft of domestic space and 1.76 million sq ft of non-domestic space.
