A senior adviser to Beijing will try to raise the abode controversy at the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) plenum next week. Xu Simin, a CPPCC Standing Committee member, said he would submit a request to put the ruling on the plenum's agenda to the CPPCC's Secretariat this weekend. The CPPCC, Beijing's highest consultative body, starts its annual meeting next Wednesday. Its Standing Committee will decide what topics the plenum will discuss in a three-day preparatory meeting beginning on Saturday. Mr Xu said he had the support of some CPPCC local members. 'They want me to pass on their requests to discuss the ruling in the upcoming plenum,' he said last night.
