Robbers force pair to swallow pills
TWO armed robbers yesterday forced their victims to swallow what were believed to be sleeping pills during a hold-up at a Kwun Tong cleaning service company.
The thieves posed as customers and arrived at the company on the sixth floor of a King Yip Street industrial building at about 1.15 pm.
They each produced a knife to threaten the owner, Mr Chu To-ngai, 37, and a staff member, Mr Chan Hak-leung, 29, and then bound them with nylon string.
The robbers took out the pills and forced the victims to swallow them.
They escaped on foot after robbing Mr Chu of $3,000 in cash, a gold necklace worth $3,500 and a $1,800 watch. Mr Chan lost two mobile telephones worth $15,900, and $2,000 in cash.
The victims freed themselves and alerted police just before 2 pm. They were taken to United Christian Hospital where they were detained for observation.
One of the robbers wore a red shirt, jeans and sports shoes and was carrying a bag. His accomplice was dressed in a black shirt, jeans and sports shoes.
