Kinane on call for QEII return
Global star Michael Kinane, who leaves tomorrow after his second Hong Kong stint this winter, might return again next month to ride Irish challenger Make No Mistake in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup.
Kinane, who joins the powerful Aidan O'Brien team for the coming European season, is still on first call for former retaining trainer Dermot Weld for overseas forays when his engagements permit.
Weld, who won the International Bowl with Additional Risk ridden by Kinane, will be delighted that Make No Mistake has been selected for the April 18 Group Two contest at Sha Tin.
Catalan Opening, superb winner of the International Bowl on Darren Beadman's final visit to Hong Kong, will represent Australia.
French trainer Francois Doumen sends back Jim And Tonic to bid for the QEII Cup after his triumph in the Bowl in December. But he may find the 2,000 metres a stiff test.
Almushtarak, third in the International Cup behind Midnight Bet and Johan Cruyff, has also been selected to represent Europe.
But the one who could beat them all is the excellent Limpid who will represent the United Arab Emirates.
Trained by Saeed Bin Suroor he was unlucky not to win the Group One Gold Cup at York last summer.
