Cloud hangs over Leonard's season
South China goalkeeper Mick Leonard could miss almost the entire Ericsson First Division championship phase for two incidents during the Caroliners' 1-1 draw with arch-rivals Instant-Dict earlier this month.
The English goalkeeper could be banned for at least three games - and up to five games - for allegedly lashing out at referee Cheung Chung-ping during half-time and pushing Instant-Dict's Hu Jianfeng to the ground towards the end of the match.
Leonard's case will be heard when the disciplinary committee meets on March 22.
According to the referee's report, Leonard verbally abused Cheung, who awarded a penalty to Instant-Dict early in the match.
It is not the first time Leonard will have faced the wrath of the disciplinary committee.
Last season, Leonard, playing for Instant-Dict, was banned for five matches for verbally abusing referee Fong Fat-wah and tossing his jersey at the referee after being sent off during Instant's 3-1 defeat by Happy Valley on January 22, 1998.
Meanwhile, South China will take on Happy Valley in tomorrow's Ericsson League championship play-off match at Siu Sai Wan Stadium.
