Lunchtime closure outrageous

For some reason, the Urban Services Department has decided to close all public swimming pools this summer during the prime time of the day - 12 noon to 1.30pm.

This is absolutely incredible and shows complete disregard both for those local citizens who want to spend a day at the pool and for those of us who can only swim during our lunchbreak for exercise.

The reason, I've been told, is so that the pool can be cleaned.

Our public swimming pools are the dirtiest, worst kept pools I have ever seen. I doubt very much that this is a renewed effort to clean them more thoroughly. In fact, I have never seen any serious cleaning done at one of the public pools.

Also, it is impossible to clean a pool after people have been swimming in it.

The ideal time to clean it is early in the morning while the dirt and other particles are lying on the bottom.

Nowhere in the free world are pools closed in the middle of the day for any reason.

Shame on the Urban Services Department. A decision such as this shows total disregard for the people of Hong Kong.
