Indifferent

The UN estimates that up to a quarter of the Albanian population of Kosovo has fled the province.

Many of those families fleeing to neighbouring Albania did so without the men, who were taken away by Serb soldiers. Perhaps they were killed.

Thousands of people have already died and what is happening reminds me of the Nanking Massacre in China more than 60 years ago.

Ethnic Chinese should be able to remember their ancestors' sufferings at that time at the hands of the Japanese Army. This was a similar tragedy.

Yet despite this, few local charities have launched fund-raising campaigns for the refugees of Kosovo. I am surprised by their indifference.
