A Hong Kong man is facing pornography charges after being caught in a Thai hotel room with video cameras and a vast photo library.

Police claim Li Kwok-chak, 61, had based himself in Pattaya for more than three years, taking pornographic photographs of prostitutes.

Li was arrested on Tuesday in a suite of the Royal Century Hotel. More than 5,000 pornographic photographs were found during a search of the room.

Police sources said Li was released on bail.

'We had no idea this was going on,' one hotel staff member said.

'He was a very kind guest. He always had a lot of girlfriends coming in and out of his room.'
